ATLAS
ATLAS — a platform by Atlas WellTech

Engineering Intelligence for Better Wells.

ATLAS brings well planning, drilling engineering analysis, optimisation, governed engineering data and operational intelligence into a single integrated environment — built so engineering work stays connected, evidenced and reviewable.

Atlas WellTech is the engineering technology brand. ATLAS is the platform.

The industry problem

Drilling engineering work is fragmented across too many places.

Engineering knowledge sits in spreadsheets, specialist applications, vendor documents, reports, historical wells, company procedures and individual working habits. Context is lost between steps, and reconstructing that context consumes engineering time that should be spent on the well.

  • Spreadsheets
  • Specialist applications
  • Vendor / manufacturer information
  • Engineering reports
  • Historical well data
  • Company procedures
  • Individual engineering workflows
  • Operational information

Integrated environment

One governed engineering context

ATLAS is designed so engineering inputs, analysis, assumptions and evidence sit in the same place, with their origin intact.

ATLAS is designed to bring engineering information and workflows into one governed environment. ATLAS supports engineering judgement — it does not replace the engineer.

Introducing ATLAS

One integrated engineering environment.

Rather than a collection of disconnected tools, ATLAS is structured as a continuous engineering workflow supported by a governed engineering intelligence layer.

  1. 01

    Plan

Establish the well objective, constraints and design basis.

  2. 02

    Engineer

Build the design with engineering methods, not disconnected files.

  3. 03

    Analyze

Test the design against loads, hydraulics and mechanical behaviour.

  4. 04

    Optimize

Compare engineering scenarios before commitments are made.

  5. 05

    Execute

Carry the engineering intent into the operation with context intact.

  6. 06

    Learn

Capture outcomes as evidence the next well can start from.

Governed engineering intelligence layer

Every stage draws on the same governed engineering information — so analysis, review and reporting refer to the same inputs, versions and assumptions.

Core capabilities

Six engineering capability families.

Capability families describe how engineering work is organised in ATLAS. Depth, configuration and rollout are discussed as part of an engagement.

01

Well Planning & Design

Trajectory, casing and wellbore architecture workflows in a structured design environment where project context is retained throughout.

02

Drilling Engineering & Analysis

Torque and drag, mechanical loading and drillstring behaviour examined against the planned well and its stated design assumptions.

03

Hydraulics, Mechanics & Optimization

Hydraulics, hole cleaning and mechanical optimisation studies used to compare engineering scenarios before decisions are committed.

04

Engineering Data & Repository

Governed engineering information — components, catalogues and project inputs — organised with their sources and versions attached.

05

Operational Intelligence

Operational context and historical information surfaced alongside engineering work so planning and review are better informed.

06

Reporting, Assurance & Traceability

Engineering outputs, assumptions and reviews captured as structured, reportable and auditable records.

Engineering in context

Design decisions kept next to the analysis that supports them.

A well design is only as good as the reasoning behind it. In ATLAS the trajectory, casing architecture and target geometry are engineered in the same environment as the analysis used to test them, so the design basis stays visible instead of being reassembled later.
  • Design intent, constraints and assumptions recorded with the well.
  • Analysis carried out against the current design, not a stale copy.
  • Engineering review able to see what changed and why.

Engineering assurance

Engineering that can be reviewed, evidenced and defended.

Assurance is a first-class part of the platform: information carries its source, changes carry their version, and decisions carry their reasoning.

  1. 01

    Source

    Where the value originates

  2. 02

    Evidence

    What supports it

  3. 03

    Version

    Which revision applies

  4. 04

    Decision

    What the engineer concluded

Lineage is retained so a reviewer can reconstruct how an engineering conclusion was reached.

  1. 01

    Engineering output

    Calculated, documented result

  2. 02

    Review

    Examined by a competent engineer

  3. 03

    Approval

    Accepted under company process

  4. 04

    Auditable record

    Retained, versioned, retrievable

Engineering intelligence

Engineering intelligence with human authority.

Engineering models, governed information, operational context and historical results can be combined to support faster and better-informed engineering decisions. What ATLAS does not do is decide. The engineer remains the decision-maker, and verification remains an explicit engineering step.
  • Engineering models — physics and design methods applied to the project at hand.
  • Governed information — inputs with known sources, versions and status.
  • Operational context — what is actually happening on the well and the programme.
  • Historical learning — what previous wells and reviews already demonstrated.
Suggests
Surfaces relevant engineering context and comparisons.
Records
Captures inputs, assumptions and reasoning as evidence.
Never assumes
Verification is not implied by the platform.
Never decides
Engineering authority stays with the engineer.
Enterprise operations

Built for how drilling organisations actually work.

ATLAS is designed for organisational use — multiple projects, multiple teams, and controlled access to engineering information across an operating structure.

Organisational workspaces
Controlled organisational workspaces for teams, assets and operating companies.
Role-based access
Engineering information is exposed according to responsibility.
Controlled repositories
Engineering references are managed, not circulated as attachments.
Auditability
Activity on engineering information is recorded and reviewable.
Governed approvals
Review and approval follow the organisation's own process.
Multi-project operations
Concurrent wells and campaigns handled in one environment.
Engineering lifecycle

A continuous loop, not a one-way handover.

Every well should make the next well better. ATLAS is structured around a closed engineering loop where captured outcomes feed back into planning.

PLANDESIGNVALIDATEEXECUTECAPTURELEARNIMPROVEWELL TO WELLLEARNING

The engineering workflow describes how a single well is engineered. This loop describes something different: how an organisation improves between wells. Outcomes captured during execution are reviewed and fed back into planning, so the next well starts from what the last one demonstrated.

  • Capture

Outcomes recorded as engineering evidence, not anecdote.

  • Learn

Reviews turn outcomes into stated engineering findings.

  • Improve

Findings inform the next design basis.

  • Plan

The cycle restarts with more context than before.

Why Atlas WellTech

The team behind ATLAS.

Atlas WellTech is the engineering technology brand behind ATLAS. Our approach combines drilling engineering thinking with modern software architecture, engineering governance, data intelligence and operational learning.

How the four come together

  1. Engineering thinking

Built around drilling engineering workflows and the way engineers reason.

  2. Governance

Traceability and control designed in, not added afterwards.

  3. Modern technology

A current software foundation designed for organisational use.

  4. Operational learning

Outcomes captured so engineering knowledge compounds.
